Stoney Creek At Wintergreen Resort - is a Resort, 27 hole golf course located in Nellysford, Virginia. Stoney Creek offers 3 nine hole courses, Shamokin, Tuckahoe, and Monocan. These can that can be played in 3 different 18 hole configurations. Wintergreen Resort also has another 18 hole course, Devils Knob, located at a higher elevation and closed during the winter, unlike Stoney Creek which is opened year round.
Stoney Creek was designed by Rees Jones and first opened for play in 1988.
The course offers great views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Monocan, Shamokin and Tuckahoe "nines" wind their way through the ancient Rockfish Valley and combine to make this a contemporary design classic. And, as if players were not sufficiently challenged by the elevation changes, contoured greens and the occasional side hill lie, Jones brought the natural elements of the landscape into play: meandering streams, hardwood forests and pristine wetlands.
The Monocan nine has more forgiving tee shots, and the Shamokin nine is the tightest nine. The Tuckahoe nine is the most scenic.

Great layout but bring your "A" game. Course was in excellent condition, especially the greens. Accomodations were less than desireable. It's hard to believe a foursome of guys can't have their own bed unless you rent a 3-bedroom unit! Wintergreen is much more suited to skiers than golfers but Devil's Knob is a great test of golf!

Wintergreen Resort turned into a golfing delight... what a golfing secret..45 fabelous holes Rees Jones in the Valley and Ellis Maples up on top of the mountain... These are some of the best / prettiest golf courses I have played. The driving range at Stoney Creek could be the prettist driving range I have ever hit balls at - next to Sea Island.
The staff is incredibly nice and guest oriented. Both Head Professionals at each facility went out of their way to welcome us.
I would reccomend this golf resort to anyone who really loves golf.

Our foursome included +10 to +25 HCP's and this course was great for all of us. A challenge to the lower guys yet open enough so the higher handicappers didn't get worn out. Great condition, great practice area. 27 holes make it a perfect place for a multi-day outing.
